Proverbs Three

Proverbs 3:7-8 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.

Proverbs3:15 She (wisdom) is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare to her.

Wisdom does not begin with myself. I cannot look in the mirror and see wisdom looking back through my eyes. Oh, there are moments when I think I am pretty smart; times when I think I am the wisdom others need in their lives. But I am so wrong!

The wisdom that springs from my lips in those rare times, is the presence and the voice of the Holy Spirit working through me. Wisdom adorns my words like bracelets, earrings, rings, and necklaces adorn me. They are not me but a beautiful adornment that gives a sparkle to my eyes.

God shares wisdom and beauty, healing and refreshment are born in me! The trinkets I desire are dull and lifeless compared to her!

Father God, Jesus Lord, and Spirit of Wisdom and Holiness, You are priceless beauty. I am worth nothing without You. I have no wisdom to voice without You. Thank You for adorning my words with your gems of insight and wisdom. I desire more of You. I desire the diamonds, pearls, sapphires and rubies that You give. Your wisdom is precious to me!

Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscopes present beautiful and amazing art from bits and pieces of varying sizes and shapes that are jumbled together. The beauty is revealed, not in the friction of the many pieces, but in the light that shines through them reflected by mirrors into the eye. In the same way people display Gods beauty when His light shines through us, even if we might rub each other the wrong way sometimes.

I do not always like the things my beloved husband of nearly 37 years does or says. He does rub me the wrong way sometimes. My little Dollar Store kaleidoscope reminds me to turn toward the light in those times. If I turn to Jesus, the irritations are seen in a new light and I can see the beauty of our marriage.

The light of Jesus reveals the truth. -Love covers a multitude of sins. -It is wise to hear both sides of an argument. -God created us male and female to compliment one another not to war against each other. -We are not joined together as man and wife to conquer each other, but to let God's light shine through us.

The same is true for any group to which we belong. Our family, church, work, and volunteer places all present opportunities for us as Christians to turn to the light, let it shine through us, and allow the light to make something beautiful.

The question I ask myself today is where am I to bring the light? Am I willing to turn away from the dark so that beauty and His glory will been seen?

God of wonder, You are The Light of the World! You are the maker of the kaleidoscope of my world. You are the light that makes even the wrong things in my life to turn into good. I am unable to see the good in others without You! I cannot even see good in myself without Your loving light revealing Your presence in me. Thank You, Father God, for choosing me as Your child and the sparkle in Your eye! You are so gracious and merciful to me. I pray that I might see Your light and turn to it in every circumstance! Make me a part of Your beautiful artwork today!

Dandelion Dew

This picture was sent to me by email. I don't know who took the picture but it is fabulous! It is simply dew on a dandelion. Kudos to the photographer!
Seeing this makes me wonder if I could ever choose man made beauty over this kind of God breathed majesty. I certainly know my limitations in creating beautiful things. I have seen artwork that stuns me with the amazing talent it takes to draw from ordinary materials and birth a unique creation, but God surpasses them all.
What do you see in this picture? I see beauty, but even more than that I see life! I see life in its most fragile state. One wisp of a breath could shatter the glorious balance of dandelion dew. I also want to see myself in this picture. I want to see the weeds of my soul sprinkled with living water. I want the things that are weedy in me to be used to glorify the One and Only Creator.
Creator God, You are Amazingly Brilliant in how You make the world come together. You teach and reveal Yourself through Your Creation. You open our eyes to see You in the tiniest and the grandest displays! Thank You for letting us see Your glory.

Legacy

Yesterday I read an article about the legacy we are given and the legacy we ourselves leave. It challenged me to think about what I've been given from those who have influenced my life and contemplate what kind of legacy I want to leave to those whose lives I have a part.

I have been keenly aware that I have been given a treasure from my parents in that I have learned to love learning. Being a life-long learner is a legacy that I also hope to hand down to my children and grandchildren and anyone else who comes into my life. I hope I will impress upon them the love of exploration, investigation and discovery of the wonderful world God has created for us.

The love of the arts is deeply rooted in my life and the lives of my family. Color, shape, sound and movement all delight my senses and touch my soul. If I can bring that delight into others I will be leaving a legacy of beauty.

The most important legacy I can think of to leave to others is an awareness and love of God. Putting God first in my life and loving him with all my heart and soul and strength is the grand prize of what I can offer others. My life should daily reflect my belief , trust, and love of my Creator, Savior, Friend and soon coming King.

My life, filled with God, beauty, and learning is my legacy to be handed down to whomever will accept the gift. My prayer is that my legacy will be handed down through many generations!

What is your legacy?

Vacation part 2

We were delighted by some beautiful experiences on our trip to Colorado. Flying above the clouds and seeing the earth from up high is always amazing, but even more were the surprises God placed before us on the ground.

Our first surprise was an empty lot that had a colony of Prairie Dogs! This was in the middle of town! We also saw a fox and a rabbit passing through the housing development where my brother-in-law lives. The mountains were hidden by haze most of the time, but we enjoyed seeing them up close near the end of our trip. They truly are majestic! At the Cave of the Winds we were pleased to experience the inside of a mountain. The formations are intriguing.

We enjoyed the architecture of little houses on the prairie and the expansive mansions (to us) of the well to do. Comfort met us in both. Gods' personal beauty was reflected in each face of our loved ones! He is such an amazing Creator!

All of the beauty seemed to be lavished on the earth as landscapes, portraits, nature, and still lifes that were painted for our enjoyment. I returned home to be even more amazed at my everyday surroundings. There is beauty in every corner of the earth. May our Creator be praised for His magnificent glory!
