Proverbs 9;11 For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.
My husband, Patrick, does not like to celebrate his birthday. I think he feels strange being the center of attention for the simple fact that he has lived for another year. It doesn't stop me from celebrating. I like to celebrate the years we live on this blue sphere! I have coaxed and pleaded with Patrick to join in the party for him! Sometimes it is easier than others. On the other hand, my daughter has a "Week of Erin" to celebrate her life. It is good to live!
Do you know anyone who does not want a long life? Who does not celebrate birthdays that add up? I suppose if we could remove all sorrows and pain there would be a rush to live forever. Funny, that sounds like heaven! It is heaven, and it is forever! Life forever lived with fullness in every way!
Days multiplied and years added come only by the God of Wisdom. It is only those days and years lived without Wisdom that we may want to subtract from our lives. I guess that makes a good argument to start living with Wisdom while we are young.
God of Wisdom, You increase our days and years. You do not take away, but there are times when I want to go a different way from Your path. It is then that I believe the lie of the enemy; You subtract and diminish. How foolish I am to think that! Forgive me, Lord! Thank You for continuing to add to my years by multiplying my days! I want to remember You and give You the praise every day and for all those growing moments!

Birthdays & Other Celebrations
We celebrated three birthdays this weekend. Two were enjoyed long distance and one was with our family here! We also celebrated the great start to the cheer leading and gymnastics seasons for our granddaughters! Our grandman, Scott is starting preschool today so we marked his big step with a party. It was a busy, smiling weekend! We have a great reason to rejoice because the family we put the spot light on are loved greatly!
Patrick's sister, Crystal, turned_____ * on Saturday, August 21. She lives in south Florida so we did not get to see her but greetings were sent, via mail, Facebook and phone. Crystal is a caregiver for her husband, Alan. She is kind and loving to him even when it is hard for her. She is a grand hostess when people come to visit. Crystal has a shining brilliant heart filled with love.
My sister, Chris, also had a birthday Saturday. It was her _____ * birthday! Living in Colorado left us miles apart for her celebration, but again we made use of all methods to let her know we loved her and we are happy she is in the family. Chris is a gifted writer and creative mind. she has spent her entire career working for the people of her church. The hours she spends teaching, administrating and doing it all with a flair is amazing! Everyone would be blessed to have her on their team!
Our Son-in-law, Cliff, celebrated his birthday here with us. Actually today is his _____* birthday. The family joined to sing and share cake and ice cream for him last night. It was noisy and fun and tasty! I am glad all the cake is gone! Cliff is a prankster, creative mind, and hard worker. He is a tough Dad when he needs to be, but oh so gentle too.
Paige hit all her stunts at the preseason football warm up games. She is a flier this year and her petite size as well as her showmanship, make her perfect for that role. She loves the crowd. She works hard both at practice and at home so she can be her best. Paige will shine on the field this year!
Brooke surprised us all with the improvements she has made over the past six weeks at her new gym! She spruced up each routine and improved her scores! Brooke seems to practice all the time. She sets goals and masters them. She will be amazing at the meets this year!
Grandman Scott, has started preschool today. I enjoyed putting puzzles together with him last night and though I would ask about school and he would just say, "No," I know he will love it! I will miss him though!
The fun thing about watching our loved ones reach milestones is that we go through a milestone also. We grow and become new as our loved ones reach those special moments. We let go. We learn. We follow their lead. We pray more. We are changed.
Today I am sharing my family and their milestones with you. I am also offering you the insight that I, too, am reaching for milestones. Some, like letting go of my time with Grandman Scott, change me more than others, but they all bring me close to God in prayer.
Father, you are the head of my family. You created each of us and brought us together in special ways. You are the One who makes the perfect plan for our lives and You offer that plan to us. You do not force Your will, but allow us to accept it freely. I don't always allow that same freedom for my family, but I want to be more like You in that way. Thank You for modeling for me the best way to love and live with each other. I need You to lead me through these milestones!

Reverse Birthday
It seems only fair that my Mom would be honored and blessed for giving birth to me. I had little to do with my entering the world. God, Dad and Mom were the co-creators of my life. Yet I am the recipient of song, presents, cards and birthday wishes. Tough I enjoy them all i certainly feel a bit humbled by all the attention.
57 years ago, my mom delivered me, a breech birth, into the world. I am the second child out of eight. Mom carried all of us and then labored over us in more ways than one. She rejoiced that we came into the world.
Today I send a shout of thanksgiving for my Mom, the laborer. I pray that she is blessed because of having me as a child. I hope that I have made her happy to be my Mom.
Happy Day Mom! You gave me the opportunity to become a part of the world! Thanks!

Birthday Blessings
Birthday Blessings are my special way of celebrating the lives of my family and friends. They are basically a simple prayer spoken or written in a card or letter. The prayer asks for specific blessings from God to be showered on the birthday person.
Praying for a particular person in a specific way is a dynamic, intimate and a deeply caring way to let them know how much you love them.
Speaking words to our Father in Heaven that calls on Him to bless one of His children is a proclamation that touches His heart. Even we humans would love to hear others ask for a blessing on our children. He who is all-loving and all-powerful certainly would grant the blessing in His will and owns the power to fulfill it.
If your name is on my calendar you can be sure that a birthday blessing was prayed for you.

Moms' Birthday
Celebrating my Moms' life is not easy living 3000 miles away from her. Like all of us she likes attention. Is a card and a phone call enough? She wants her children to not only think about her but take time to focus our attention on her. She doesn't ask for much.
I remember lots of attention that Mom showered on me. Even with seven of us under foot she made time to let me know I was loved.
Loving her now seems easy enough. She asks for only a minute or two, or maybe longer. Someday those minutes will go by way too soon. Those who love her will grasp for her last minutes and try to desperately hang on as she takes the steps toward her eternal minutes.
Those thoughts are enough to take the time, spend the minutes, pay attention, enjoy the moments. As all Moms' know, those precious minutes go by way too fast!
