Our household is in the middle of a "tighten your belt" season. We are committed to limiting our spending. As chief cook, it is my job to make dinner for the family. With the budget small and the pantry shrinking, it is time for creative cooking.
The best part of creative cooking for me is waiting on God. He always seems to have a recipe that uses what little I have, and He makes it stretch and grow so that we are filled. We may not be eating steak or those really nice meals that we all crave, but we are filled and blessed!
God has not changed. Throughout scripture He gave to those who were in need when it seemed the need was too great. He provided oil when there was not enough. He provided a ram for Abraham, tax money for His disciples, and best of all a Savior for our eternal salvation. When I cannot depend on myself, or when I don't see the meals hidden in my pantry, He provides, He reveals.
Father, You are GOOD! We have not gone without because You are our Provider. You create miracles by making what we have go farther than we expect. You supply all our needs! Without You I would overlook the blessings hidden in the cupboard. Without You I would not trust that we are blessed and have enough. Thank You for being enough for us. Thank You for taking care of Your children! We love You, Lord!
Questions, answers, thoughts, musings. Words created to communicate Gods' truth to families in a creative way. My mission in writing is to strengthen, support, encourage, and celebrate relationships.

Time
An on line friend of mine has said that "There is enough time to do all that God wants you to do." That gives me hope!
Enough time! That is almost a foreign concept isn't it? I am always making the excuse that I just don't have enough time. So, what is the truth? Do I have enough time or not? Is the key in the phrase, "To do what God wants me to do?"
There are times when I am overburdened with needs, problems, and chores as well as all of the things I want to do! But are all those things part of God's plan for my life?
God's word reveals that there is a season and a time for everything God wants me to do. There is a time to be born, die, plant, pluck up, kill, heal, weep, laugh, mourn, dance, cast away and gather stones, embrace and refrain from embracing, seek, lose, keep, throw away, tear, sew, be quiet, speak, love, hate, make war, and be at peace. (see Eccl. 3) He has given us time. He has given us purpose. He has given enough time to fulfill our purpose.
The question is, how am I using my time? Good question.
Eternal Father, You are the time Keeper. You are the bestower of purpose. You wait patiently and provide abundantly. I run out of time only when I am not in Your will. I have enough time when I stay focused on Your plan for my life. Thank You for time. Thank You for life abundant! Thank You for using me to accomplish Your will on earth! You are more than enough for me!

Enough
When will we as Christians really live our lives as we believe? When will God really be enough for us?
We sing songs praising God for being everything we need. We claim that God alone is sufficient for every circumstance. Yet, we rarely live day to day in the reality of that truth.
I am notorious for putting importance on people and things over God. Oh, I know that is hard for you to hear. I shouldn't be admitting to this but it is the truth. I live my life and make decisions based on my unspoken belief that I need my relationships in order to be happy. I need "things" in order to be fulfilled.
I don't want to be that way, and my head knows that it is not true. I know from my studies that God is enough to make me satisfied, but I fall short of living the ideal. I want to make God my source of strength and fulfillment. I am better than I have been in the past, but I still have a way to go.
I am reaching for that goal one day at a time, and sometimes one hour at a time. I fall short of my goal often but there will be a day when my all sufficient God will be MORE than enough for me! Will you come join me in searching for the treasure that will finally be enough!?
