Saturday was my 60th birthday. It was a grand day with lots of friends and loving wishes, even from afar! I celebrated with good food, family, friends, and that made the day fabulously fun! I am so happy to be 60!
Some people have asked if I am now 39 and holding. I never will be 39 again and don't plan on ignoring the years God has given me since then. It is a joy to be alive and serving my Father in Heaven! Why would I hide the gift of years He has given me?
I can imagine me telling someone I am "39 and holding" and hear God on His throne saying, "And what about the other 21 years with which I have gifted you?" No, I never want to hide His gift of years. Life is a precious and blessed treasure. I choose to celebrate all my years, and I hope to praise Him and give Him glory all my days!
Father God, Ancient of Days, You are the Faithful Judge of all my days. You are the sovereign Lord who has determined my years. Thank You! I am blessed beyond measure with 60 years. There are times, Father, when I have failed to live my life to the fullest as You desire, forgive me. As I press on in years teach me to number my days and as they turn into years may You be glorified! In celebration of the day of my birth I bow before You, my Creator, Lord and Father.

David
Today is our sons' 30th birthday. God brought David into the world through us and has blessed so many, including us, by His choice!
David has a teachable spirit. He listens to instruction and for the most part obeys. There have been times when he has not followed the wisest course, but he has learned from those experiences. David also has a joy that was fought for and won when he was young. Until about the age of two and a half, David was angry and kept himself at a distance from all those who loved him. Through diligent prayer and spiritual warfare, he was set free. God has, from that day, filled David with a lasting joy and made him a great hugger!
David has brought us a daughter (in-law) and two Grandmen to love. How could we not love that?
Our son, taught us to seek and trust God, receive blessings, and to smile! 30 years has gone by way too fast! David is a man we are proud to call our son!
Father God, Lord of all, You know David very well, better than we do! You have made him very special and we know You have the best of plans for him. We see only a small part of who he is and who he can become. Thank You for keeping Your eye on him and helping him to grow closer to You and deeper in Your love. Lord, Show David who You are and lead him in all truth! We thank You for allowing us to be a part of his life!

Birthday Girl
Today is my #2 Gradlady's 9th birthday! Brooke is very excited for today, as any 9 year old would be. I have to admit that I am a bit happy and sad for her today.
I am happy that today she gets some little special treats. I am sad that all her big dreams for her birthday won't happen because of lack of money. I wish I could do more for her birthday, but the important thing is to make sure she knows how much she is loved!
The family is coming together to celebrate in ways that are unique and special to Brooke. A special dinner and treats go alongside the little gifts that say we love her. Even God is getting into the fun surprises!
Today as she walked to school with her friends. Two school buses passed by them. One was decorated with balloons and a sign saying "Happy Birthday." Grown ups can argue that it wasn't meant for her, but the child in me recognizes God's hand in giving her that special delight! God knew that a decorated bus would delight and make a fun memory for any child. That it came on her special day and as she walked to school was more than coincidence! God prepared a treat that would delight Brookes' heart! God loves her so much!
Brooke is a strong little girl. Determination, persistence, wit and insight are some of her character in which I take pleasure. Little girls learn quickly how to use their words to draw others in or push them away and Brooke is no exception. She loves the color pink. She loves gymnastics and winning! She will push herself even if others give her a way out. Brooke brings a new perspective to our family discussions, mostly with a humorous bent!
Brooke makes me smile and laugh at the harsh and dismal world. I am so glad she is my Grandlady#2!
Father, You have created a magnificent creature when You created Brooke! Her birth was a miracle. You have placed in her unique and amazing gifts and talents that are so fun to watch. You have generously given her to our family and we are ever so grateful! Having her live in our home for the last 8 years has not always been easy. Forgive me for overlooking the gift You gave. Thank You for teaching me through Brooke. Thank You for making her shine in my life, and showing me more of You! Bless her abundantly! I pray she will live a long and healthy life, know You completely as her Lord and Savior and walk with You all her days!

Mom's Birthday
Saturday was a busy day for me. A memorial service in which I read one of my poems, a baby shower for my daughter who is expecting in September, and my Mom's 80th birthday was on my list.
I began my day thinking of my Mom. I said a prayer for her and thanked God that she is still with us. I could not be with her since she lives 3000 miles from me, but I wanted God to shower her with love, grace, and special fun. She would be enjoying a family dinner with most of her loved ones in attendance, I wanted to be there too, but there are somethings that just can't be helped. The Florida family sent flowers. She loves flowers! I am sure she would have preferred having us there, but flowers will do.
During the memorial service, I also thought of my Mom. I asked God to let me see her again before it would be her time.
The baby shower also reminded me of her. She would have been so excited to have been there! she loves babies! Mom is having the privilege of four, yes, FOUR new great grandchildren this year! She thinks they are all beautiful and smart!
Mom has been blessed to live for 80 years. She has seen many changes and she, too, has changed! She has learned many lessons life offers. I wrote a poem for her years ago and i will post it on my poetry blog. If you are interested you can read it at http://poetryimpressed.blogspot.com.
Happy Birthday, Mom! I am so happy to celebrate YOU! God has richly blessed me with you as my Mom.
Father, You are so wise and good! You have blessed my life with a Mom who has helped me to grow in loving You and loving others. Bless my mom as she gets older. Bless her with health and protection and provision for her needs. I know You love her smile just like I do...You made it just for her! Thanks!

Celebration
What are you celebrating today? It may not be a holiday, birthday, anniversary or other special day, but there is always something to celebrate, especially if you are part of God's forever family!
Today I am celebrating the birthday of my oldest child. Seems funny to call her a child, but as I think of the day she was born, she is my baby! She is a beautiful woman. Erin has proven herself to be faithful, strong and a woman who gives of her time and resources to make this world a better place, full of smiles! She has learned to rely on God in all things. Though there were times she struggled to trust God, her faith in His goodness helped her to believe she could trust.
Waiting on the Lord was not easy, yet Erin is receiving what she has long awaited and is giving God the glory for getting her through those long dark and stormy nights when waiting seemed like an eternity. I am so happy for her!I want this birthday to be one she will never forget because of the overwhelming blessings that are falling on her!
Even if Erin never received these long awaited blessings we could still celebrate. Salvation is a daily celebration for the Lord is to be praised, glorified, magnified and made famous for all He has done to give us eternal life.
So, how about YOU? Can you celebrate God's salvation today? If you have it, find a way to celebrate it! If you do not own His salvation just ask. He wants you to have it for free!
This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Glory be to You Lord Most High! You are our Saving Lord and our Strong Refuge in times of trouble! You are our Hope and Blessing! You are our truth! Life is so often difficult, Lord, and we Your people don't often feel like celebrating! Forgive us for not believing in your goodness that can be celebrated in every day!Thank You for proving to us over and over that You are worthy!

My Birthday Praise
Today is a wonderful day to praise my Father in Heaven for His wonderful gift of life! Today is my 58th birthday!
Waking up this morning to birthday greetings from my family was very nice. My mind began to contemplate the day and all that it means. With those thoughts I could not help but lift my grateful heart to the One who knit me together in my Mother's womb, the One who placed me in my family and country, who creatively put me together in unique combination of body and soul, and who has delighted in redeeming me from my sins and filling me with His Spirit! WOW! Life is amazing when we look to our Creator Father!
Father, You are so good to me! Thank You for 58 years of life touched by Your love.I lift my voice to praise You for Life here on earth and life eternally through Your Son!

A Birthday About Me
Do you remember your 7th birthday? I do. I remember it being a day filled with sevens. I won a prize because I drew a lucky number seven. I visited a children's' TV program where I was seventh in line to walk the plank of the pirate ship. I had seven candles. It seems it is a big year for little ones. It certainly is one that I remember in a big way.
At seven we seem to finally understand what birthdays are all about. They are all about ME! Birthdays are not about the Mom who carried me for nine months or about the hours of labor and pain it took to bring me into the world. It is not about Dad who paid for all or most of the bill. It is not about the friends and family who brought gifts. It is about me, the one who just happened to show up on that date!
Okay, so I'm not 7 but my granddaughter is. It has been a big day for her! She has told each of us what she expects for her birthday. She wanted everything to be all about her. She made sure she had a celebration fit for her. Aren't we all a bit that way? Even if we say "no birthday this year" aren't we making the day ours in a back handed way? We choose to tell others that they are not allowed to celebrate even if they want.
I want to celebrate my birthday too. It is coming in a few days. I may not be as demanding , or extravagant as my granddaughter but I want a celebration just the same. It will be a celebration of life. My life has been so blessed. God has given me life through my parents and the fullness of life through family and friends. I hope to celebrate my life in a way that God will be magnified. My birthday will be about me. It will be about me living life the way God intended, maybe not perfectly, but certainly with a willing and celebratory spirit.
My dear little sweet Brooke, Happy 7th birthday! Today it is all about you! Be blessed!

My Daughters' Birthday
My first child was born 34 years ago. Being my first child she became an experiment in parenting for both me and my husband. It has been an awesome experiment that God has let me take part in! He trusted me with this child, and though I made many mistakes (not only with her but all of my children) God helped out. Because of His helping hand in her life she has become a powerful woman of faith!
My daughter is walking a hard path not of her choosing. She has walked it for six years now, and through it all she has held fast to the source of her strength. She has proven herself to be faithful, strong, resourceful, loving, encouraging and steadfast in faith her trust in God. I am so very proud of her!
She has joy that is irrepressible! Since she turned 16 she has celebrated "The Week of Erin" not just her birth"day". The entire week surrounding her birthday is filled with little celebrations of friendships, family, and herself. Maybe she wanted to make sure she got her weeklong celebration so she could surpass Fathers' Day since her birthday sometimes lands on that day, and she is forced to share the day with her Dad. Whatever the reason, it always brings us who love her much joy to watch her delight in life and the good that God has blessed her with!
So, Erin Joy, have a wonderful Week and a delightful Day of celebrating You! I believe God is delighting in sharing you with the world!
To everyone else who reads this, take a moment and celebrate life! It is worth celebrating!
